The door is going to shut!
2 Peter 2:3 -In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up.........The movie has on its opening day made an estimated $ 44 million in ticket sales. Yet in the Biblical story of
Noah is important for us to know the facts. Jesus mentions it in Matthew24:37-As in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
Who was this man Noah? The book of Hebrews says that he was a man of faith, heir of righteousness. 2 Peter 2:5 says of Noah that he was a preacher of righteousness. Russell Crowe said in
an interview about the character Noah, that he wasn't even a nice guy, yet scripture says that he was a indeed a very good guy, who walked with God!
What about the people of that day, what were they like? In Genesis is says their wickedness was so great, Gen.6:5 and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. Imagine events like the tragic stabbing this week in Pa. high school, or shooting at Fort Hood, or Sandy Hook as commonplace.
What about God? What was His thoughts? In Genesis 6:6 Lord was grieved that
He had made man on earth, and His heart was filled with pain. This pain of the Father reminds me of the pain Jesus had at Gethsemane. Matthew 28:38 then he said to them " my soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death" In Luke's account his sweat was like drops of blood.
The movie failed to show in its presentation the true character of God. Bible tells us what is true, God delights in man but hates wickedness. Jesus was sent by the Father because of His immense love of mankind! Jesus obedience to the Father was out of love for Him and love for mankind. Jesus laid down His divinity to take up frail/human flesh and die a humiliating death out of love. Philippians 2:7 but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant being made in human
likeness. He would endure the pain of the cross to reconcile us back to the Father.
In Matthew 25:10 the parable of the virgins the last sentence says: The door shut. The last sentence in Genesis 7:16 says: The Lord shut the door. Proverbs 8:34- blessed is the man who listens
to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway. Revelation 3:20- Here I am! I stand at the door ad knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come in and eat with him and he with me.
The door is indeed open, but for how long? The door is going to shut as it did for the people
of Noah's day. Listen to Jesus-let Him into your heart! Repent, believe, call on Him as your Savior, become a child of God. He loves us so!
